Tree Fern Leaves curling and ‘Burning’

Hey guys! I have recently purchased a tree fern and re-potted. I have had it in the backyards for almost a week now and have been watering the germs everyday. I noticed today some of the leaves have a ‘burning effect’ and others are curling. It is in mostly direct sunshine but receives some shade during the day. I have attached some photos, let me know your thoughts on what could be going on!

I think that’s sun damage. Tree ferns need pretty deep shade.

Edited to say:  some sites recommend ‘dense shade’.

The curling in the first pic is how the fronds unfurl. Perfectly normal. It's how all ferns 'open'.
It won't be happy in a sunny site at all.

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'll make sure I move it to a shaded area right away!

Indeed, that's why I have a little chuckle when garden rescue put in 4 or 5 tree ferns into an open garden with no shade or protection. Tree ferns are one of their current obsessions, along with Bananas. It's not like they're cheap to buy either.

Absolutely ... they're rain forest plants.

They grow well in lots of milder areas here and Ireland - similar conditions.

We have plants that are unique up here - and they're often little rain forest types.  :)
