Help with Geraniums

Can someone please help. I have my Geraniums planted in the garden and they have done really well and bloomed right up until last month, can anyone tell me do I have to dig them up and store them inside ? or can I ust cut them back and leave them where they are in the ground?

Just to confirm, are you talking about pelargoniums, (or decorative geraniums) like these

as opposed to the perennial types ?

Not to worry. They won't be hardy enough to survive once they get hit by frost. You can dig them up and pot them to keep indoors over the winter if you are able to.
