Plant Identfier

Anyone got any idea what this plant is, similar leaves to crocosmia but I don't think it is one? Out in bloom now, October.

Schizostylis. Good plant for this time of year.  :)
Mostly reds/orangey colours, but there is a white as well.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks very much, strange thing is we don't remember buying this at all,

And just to confuse things the name has been changed to Hesperantha coccinea.

I can never remember the new name @K67:D

It may have been there already, but hidden by other plants or something @Gary.lipton :)

No @Fairygirl I had to Google it. I was always proud of myself for being able to pronounce Schizostylis even if i couldnt spell it!
    They are lovely plants.

I love the old name. It's always fascinated me. Not sure what that says about me!  :D

I love white plants, but I think the white one is a bit short lived, like many white plants, so I've never bought it.
They grow really well here - I'm wondering if you have drier conditions and it's maybe not performed well in the past because of that @Gary.lipton? It may just have had a lot of foliage and not produced the flowers. Just a thought  :)

  • Well I'll certainly look after it now, they are lovely and they are growing in between some pennesetum grasses and look really good

Most GCs sell them. You'll see it sold as a plant usually   :)

  • There's a pink one too, maybe not quite so vigourous.
