Turmeric From A Rhyzone

Hi Every One

Can anyone tell me how to grow turmeric from a rhyzone, do I soak it first and what type of growing medium does it like, warmth this time of year is not a problem.

I suggest you treat like a ginger root.  If left in a warm spot and given a bit of water they will often produce a shoot.  I've just potted one up in ordinary seed compost and it's doing OK.  If it survives I shall move it to grittier compost with some nutrients.

Turmeric comes from similar climes so worth trying.

It needs to be a fresh rhizome, not a dried one.

  • The rhizome is a fresh one, will do as Obelixx suggests and hope it works  Thanx
