Yes we do. I can't remember how much but it's not particularly expensive and worth it to me for getting rid of sticks, rose branches, ivy and poor composers etc.
Edited for poor composters but decided to leave poor composers in too😊
    In London. Keen but lazy.

The composers must take up a lot of space - no wonder you're weekly!  ;)

I knew she was putting bodies in those bins.... :D

At least Beethoven wouldn't hear the bin lorry coming

Surely Beethoven should be buried in your beetroot patch. B)

You would have a very harmonious garden.

The colour green was already used for recycling for obvious reasons. Brown for garden waste -a composty colour, Food waste caddies are grey -like mould.

Green bin is general waste for us, brown for garden waste and blue for recycling. nothing for food waste - mostly compost bin in the garden for us.

@B3 - so you pay for it, but they only collect six months of the year? Seems odd.

Lots of us have been sharing brown bins in our area which works well as few of us use our bins every single week.

There is no national co-ordination of recycling or any waste plans. It's all run by local councils - which is pretty disastrous. There is a strong argument for centralising and standardising the whole process.
  • Southampton is green for ordinary waste, blue for recycle and brown for garden. About £50 for fortnightly collections. You can download the collection days from the council website. Printed out it's on my kitchen notice board otherwise I'd never remember!
