Is this hardy geranium just dying back for the winter or is it just dying from my heavy soil?

    Heavy soil doesn't really bother them, but they can get a bit lax in damp conditions, which is the more likely reason. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Thank you both......... thrilled to hear ye're replies.  I grew lots from seed 3 years ago, only planted them in the garden this year.  I've had so many garden failures this year......roll on next year!!!
