Where to winter young perennials?

I recently bought a lot of perennials (foxglove, achillea, delphinium etc) as plugs and have planted in small pots for the time being. Where is the best place to keep them over winter?

Those can just stay outside in a sheltered spot - against a house wall etc, but if you're in a cold, wet area, a cold frame is helpful - kept opened slightly. That just gives them a bit of protection from the worst weather, but doesn't over cosset them either, so you'll get sturdier plants for putting out in pots/borders later.
The key time to watch out for is in spring, when new growth comes through on things like delphiniums, as it's very attractive to slugs/snails. That's when young plants are most vulnerable.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
