What is this tree??

  At college we were given the following rough guide: Cedrus atlantica, the Atlas cedar (a for ascending branches), Cedrus libani, Cedar of Lebanon (l for branches on the level) and Cedrus deodora (d for descending branches).

  @Dovefromabove Yes, it confused me somewhat as the bottom, middle and top third are all doing different things.

  Does it produce cones and, if so, do you have a photo? If it's a larch, as @Buttercupdays suggests, it will be deciduous and colour up before shedding its needles.
