unidentified plant

Had moved in February and this grew over the fence, can anyone identify this? I thought it was the Japanese plant. Thanks.

Hi @j.pmorris  and welcome to the forum :)
That's Parthenocissus quinquefolia ... aka Virginia Creeper ... a climber whose leaves turn a glorious red in autumn before falling.  A wonderful sight, as you're about to find out,  but the plant is a bit of a spreader (as you're also finding out) and needs trimming to keep under control.

  • Many thanks, so we have another American invasion... oh dear  :D

I can think of plenty of other less desirable American imports. Where will I start.....

    It's a beautiful plant  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • The obvious 2 are the Grey Squirrel and Crayfish, then Alexia  :o
  • Virginia creeper. Lovely colour in autumn.
