Inspiration required

My kitchen window sadly looks out on to my garage wall.
I want some colourful Trailing plants that I can put in pots on the roof that will tumble down and provide something enjoyable to look at all year round. Any ideas gratefully received.

I'd plant something in the ground to grow up, rather than in pots to grow down.
You'll have to have decent sized "pots" on the roof to support plants, there's a weight issue to consider.
Remember that they'll need watering, and , being up high, they'll need watering more .
Factor in the wind up there too.

    Devon.
  • Have you searched online for "living walls"? You might find some inspiration if you like the idea of refreshing the display from time to time.

Do you have space for a trough at the bottom of the wall?  It will hold more soil than pots, if big enough, so less watering to do.  Another option would be buy some wall-mounted pots, but you would need to water them regularly.

How much sun/shade does this area get?  That will impact what will happily grow there?

More info needed, for the reasons already given. Time to spare maintaining them is the most important.  :)
Always easier to have something growing up, rather than down.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
