Colourful suggestion for tall containers

I discovered gardening only this year was very proud of my first proper display.  I’ve got 2 tall containers I want to strategically place between the cordyline.  I want something to continue the vibrant display and add some interest at eye height.  I’m still quite novice so would really welcome your suggestions please?

    I'm not sure I would add anything extra, it looks okay as it is.

     You could however either think about just placing the empty pots as structural elements or perhaps have a look at some of the vibrantly coloured heucheras available, you might struggle to find flowering plants that will last much longer at this time of year.

    Thanks Lizzie!  It was more that I’ve got 2 faded black plastic pots doing nothing.  I can use them but they’re not pretty enough to be prominent.  I originally thought of hydrangeas or ornamental grasses.  Perhaps you’re right though and I should leave well alone!

    Ha ha thank you!  Surprising what you can turn your hand to in lockdown!  I’ve only discovered some summer bedding plants though - heck of a way to go.  Although I bought brassicas and heathers today so I’m branching out 😁

    I can see that you miht want some thing to join up the height of the hedge behind and the height of pots at the front; about the height of the flamingo (?). Is it ivy behind? 

    It is not an answer to your question, but you might want to think of planting colourful wall flowers now for the spring (they are not very tall), choosing dahlias to plant for next summer (ones that get to eye height), salvias, helenium, rudbekias, coreopsis, cosmos; tithonia (in the ground). Crocosmia might fit with your planting style (but pretty short).

    Larger pots are going to make life easier, holding more nutrients and more water.

    Thanks for your comments.  Eventually I agreed with @Lizzie27 and decided I didn’t need to add anything else.  I also realised my mind had deceived me and the pots weren’t as tall as I originally thought!  Instead I planted 2 up the same and put them either side of the front door.

    Look great.

    My only suggestion might be a climber to add colour to the hedge when everything else is asleep.
