Shade

My family is looking to start a garden, and we do have a spot in our Front Yard that is almost always subject to complete shade. Are there any good plants to grow in this?

    Yes - there are loads of plants suitable for shade. :) Can you give us more info - size of the area, dry or wet shade, type of soil, tall or low growing plants?
    A photo would help too if you can. The icon that looks like a mountain on a postcard is the one for uploading  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Slightly surprised that @Hostafan1 hasn't chipped in already 😉 but hostas and ferns are a great starting point, dependant on conditions mind. There are plenty of evergreen ferns that will keep looking good all year.

    As has been said, in fact order to answer your query we need more information ... whereabouts in the USA is your garden (climate zone etc), the type of soil you have (acid or alkali, clay/loam/sand etc,) and whether the shade is total or partial and whether it’s damp shade or dry?

    As has been suggested, a photo or two of the garden would help us to help you. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    One of my favourite plants in our garden is Dodecatheon pulchellum.  It hails from North America, so hopefully might be suitable for your location.  It prefers reliably moist soil, and can take some sun.  There are also some beautiful ferns.  Some of the evergreen ones are wonderful (Dryopteris erythrosora, Cyrtomium fortunei, Polystichum setiferum).

    I have a 21" gorgeous pot of Foxtail Fern in my shady garden.  It thrives when it gets lots of water.  My coral waxleaf begonias love it out in my shady garden, too. They only get maybe 30 minutes of morning sun if they are lucky:  
    The Creeping Jenny in this pot has died off from heat and the begonias have taken over the space to fill the pot with color now. :)
