Pineapple in composter?

Hi after reading an article that fresh pineapple flesh and skin is a good thing to have in the composter so I added it with a layer of old hay on top. Then read it's bad cos worms don't like citric acid ! So now I'm really confused can anyone help?

I've been adding quite a bit of pineapple lately and I have noticed the worms will all rise to the surface soon afterwards. It doesn't take long for them to go back in though.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I personally don't think worms have much of a problem with citrus. I put loads in and it's chock with brandlings.

    Pineapple isn’t citrus 😎

" Citrus was always a no no in a Wormery".

Have you tried it @philippasmith2 ?

@Dovefromabove - I guess the OP is suggesting that highly acid fruit might not be good for worms.
  • Hi

I have put pineapple skin and the leaves in the compost and they have rotted down nicely. Same with orange peel. If it isn't the worms that like it, something does that is in there
