Can anyone identify please?

Hello all, could someone please help me to identify these plants, so far from seed. Like many, I had purchased what was described as Fly trap seeds via Wish, which obviously they are not. This is their growth so far, could you help tell me what they are please? Thank you.

They look a bit like willowherb seedlings, but if they came from abroad they could be anything. Probably best to destroy them (not in the compost bin).

  • I agree, they look like Epilobium (willowherb) species.  Getting sent weed seeds instead of what you ordered is now a common scam on ebay, wish, amazon and similar shopping sites and I would also second jennyj's comment that they should be destroyed, especially if the seeds were sent from outside the UK as it could be a particularly invasive type (although they are all a nuisance) or even carriers of a plant disease.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thank you both very much for your helpful and quick responses. I will destroy and stop ordering that way.

There are plenty of reputable UK online seed suppliers, so don't be too hasty to rule out all of them. If in doubt, ask on here first. Most of the "good guys" will be known to at least some of the regulars on here.

  • Thank you Jenny, one of those impulse buys really, I know I know, that's how they get us! Not again... Thanks for your update  :)

We also have a seed swap thread - so you might be able to get seed from other forum members, depending on what you want to grow.  :)
Otherwise, as @JennyJ says - there are loads of reputable online suppliers that many of us regularly use, so just ask on here @ajwwoodfbrjCmwLY9 :)
