Can you identify this plant and is it dieing?

Hi all,

Can anyone identify this plant? I know its a bulb. Ive never seen it flower.

Its leaves have started to brown quite suddenly for no apparent reason. Is this usual, or is it dieing?

Looks like a Hippeastrum (Amaryllis). They need regular watering, but not too much and feeding to help them flower. Leaves will yellow with less than perfect care, it's happened to mine more than I care to admit

, but they are tough and will recover.
