Solanum laxum pruning

Hi, I’ve been asked by a friend to prune their potato vine because it’s got out of hand and has got into their neighbours garden.

I’ve read that all pruning should really be done in spring and not that hard otherwise it could kill it. It’s pretty big so well established.

Any tips will be much appreciated!
