Planting Perrenial Seeds.

Hi every one :)
I'm very very new to gardening and I need some advice.  I'm going to buy some Perrenial Flower Seeds to plant now (October).  Could someone tell me the steps I have to take please.  I've Googled and Googled (is how I fount this site)  but I really didn't understand instructions and ideas very well because I'm so new at  trying to garden.  I really would appreciate any help you can give me. :)
Thanking you VERY much!!

Hello Nanci, welcome to the forum  :)
Do you know which perennials you want to try and grow ? Also what equipment have you got , a greenhouse or coldframe or maybe a propagator?
  • Thank you so much for your advice.  I'll get out soon to get my seeds and will then post any questions I have,
At least you've given me hope that I can make a nice flower garden.

Hi AnniD. Thank you for your welcome.
I haven't gone out yet to buy my seeds (not able to at the moment) and I only have small and large shovels, rakes, shrub cutter and a couple other small tools I don't even no the name of.  No Greenhouse, coldframe or propagator.  Up until now I haven't done much gardening in my life.

I think you'd be better starting with a few annuals, then experiment with perennials. Perennials generally take longer to reach  flowering stage  [depending on what they are] and take a bit more attention until they become mature plants :)

  •  If you can tell us a little about your garden, you will get more targeted help and advice. Nobody here minds answering questions to help another gardener :)
You will need some pots and when your seeds have grown a little they will need to be spaced out to give them room to develop. You can buy pots and seed trays, but at first you might like to make a start using things like yogurt pots, (make holes in the bottom so they can drain), and plastic trays from the supermarket. Mushroom trays are good, quite deep and with drainage holes, for when your seedlings have grown a bit. Some other veg are sold on shallow trays without holes and these are good to stand your pots on. Then you can put them on a warm window sill, that gets good light, but not too much direct sun - if you are lucky enough to get any!
You will also need some seed or multi-purpose compost and some labels. You can make labels by cutting up supermarket milk bottles.

I recommend https://www.seedaholic.com/ they give extremely detailed information on both the plant and how to sow the seeds.

They're very good @K67. Chiltern's Seeds also do very comprehensive instructions.
