Smoke Bush/Tree leaning

We have a mature smoke bush/tree which is growing at an angle from its base (about 45 degrees).  In the photo below, the base of the tree is to the right of the stone head ornament, just under the variegated plant.  It hasn't been a problem before but this year it is hanging over other plants too much, stunting their growth. We have removed some of the lower branches but it is still leaning.  My next idea is to put a stake in and a tie to the main trunk/branch and try to pull it more upright.  Before we do that I wanted to check if anyone had any other ideas and/or advice?  I don't want to keep removing branches

Thanks

Since your shrub is already quite sizable, if you pruned them low down, new branches will form and you can control the way it grows for next year onwards. They grow pretty fast once they have a good root system. Leaning branches can snap in high winds so a good idea to prune down. That way, you will have more light for your other plants.
