Good as a big statement pot @Ceres I meant to say that @sam bevington - apologies. They're really well done. I have two quite big square metal pots [much smaller than your bins though ] and I love those. Siting them is the key factor so that plants don't fry though I have one of those metal firepits which I keep thinking of amending for plants. I just need to find something suitable to line it with because of the gaps in the metalwork.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
My bins only get the sun till 10am; can't take the credit - 'Pots for Shady Spots', GW mag. I drilled drainage holes and filled a third of the bins with bricks, then bulked up with old jumpers - too expensive to fill with compost!
Oh absolutely @sam bevington - if you have money to burn, it's different! They're very smart. I don't have to bother too much about the location of my metal pots, as we don't get the raging heat here that other areas get, but I usually have plants which are happy with drier soil in them, or else I have them in the front garden where they only get sun in late afternoon, and very little at all by this time of year. I've got some narcissus in them just now, so they'll come into the back garden in spring, when I can see them from the kitchen, and back of the house. Nice to chop and change too

Bins are fab! Upcycled water butt I spotted mini incenerators in B&M for £12, had to keep my hand in my pocket! Also fab, well looked after plants by a lovely lady employee, pottering in the pouring rain yesterday. I am being made redundant next week, I want a job like that
@FlyDragon That's all right until they get too big! My Monstera is growing in a large, green garden tub with an old teatray as a saucer, cos I didn't have anything else big enough. It has had 6 new leaves this year and is expandng in all directions - might have to practice some belated bonsai as there is no way I can pot it on!
A dustbin might suit it, but not what I envisage for my living room
