Chainsaw trouser recommendations please

Looking for a pair that will be both breathable and good quality. I'm automatically drawn to Stihl but are there better options?

    Depending on the amount of work to be done, you might have a case for getting a professional in to do it.  I detest chainsaws but use them when I really have to.  I have strong gloves (if I remember to wear them) but try to use the saw with legs wide apart so that, if the chain does break, they're out of the way.  If you really want trousers, I don't think you can do better than Stihl.

    Thanks for the Stihl endorsement. We have several acres of woodland, farm boundaries with shrubs and trees, plus a number of willows that are coppiced or pollarded.

    It's your call but if you haven't used a chainsaw before I'd advise attending a chainsaw users course.
    I haven't but certainly wouldn't use a chainsaw without training.

    Thanks @SydRoy and @nick615. It's a gift for my husband, who is experienced with chainsaw use but whose trousers (non-breathable) are now too big and I thought I'd get a really good replacement pair for his birthday.

    We've used 3 different arboricultural companies over the last 25 years and every last one of all the workforces wore Stihl trousers.
    Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

    Stihl and Husqvarna both make excellent quality professional chainsaw protective equipment

    I've wore a few chainsaw pants and haven't found any to be breathable /  + heavy mind all the ones I've wore are getting on a bit. I've always leaned more towards Husqvarna / johnserd ( its just a red husqvarna really ) over stihl but all are top notch so I wouldn't worry about which brand you go for . I hope you are getting the helmet and chainsaw gloves as well.

    Thanks @Perki he's got all the protective gear, these are going to be an upgrade on his current trousers.
