Drainage ideas

My garden is on a slope, not severe but does slope down towards the house, when it rains the water comes down the path and collects near the patio doors.
Any ideas of a simple drainage system I can put across the path about halfway up (fence area) so to cut the amount of  water coming down. Still planning on putting a small drain in at the bottom of the slope

The pics are excellent but what they DON'T show is whether the slope continues out of the picture, possibly towards the road?  Persistent rain will fall on the whole plot, so a midway drain will only deal with the top half beyond the fence.  If, as I suspect could be likely, the fall continues and there is a path or similar round the side of the property, I'd be tempted to investigate the idea of surface channelling the water from the patio door area, round the house, so that it simply keeps going instead of stopping where it does?

You could lift pairs of slabs every so often and create a soakaway, and then replace the paving. Or, if it's just the one spot, do it there. That's often enough to solve it.
Worth lifting a couple of slabs at the worst bit to see what the ground is like below them  :)

Put in something like this and a bit of that lovely brick work at the fence.. and repeated at the edge of the patio.  Have it connected to a French drain that leads to a soak away?

  • The slope ends at the house and pools to the right (as your facing) the doors. Would lifting a couple of slabs dig a trench left to right  filled with stone at the gait leading to a soak away help somewhere in the grass

A soakaway, or drain as in the illustration,  running down each side of the path [in the grass] would possibly help, or on one side where the water pools most.
Difficult to be accurate about this kind of thing just from a few photos though. I still think making simple soakaways within the path itself could help, and would save altering the basics of the existing plot.
It really depends on how much effort you want to put in, and your budget.
