  Start an avocado, if you fancy growing an exotic fruit of sorts, they germinate really quickly and have lovely leaves

  Yes, thanks. I have three growing at present. I started them in water then transplanted to soil.

  @ andrew kenneth.            silversurfer,dovefromabove, borderline,k67, bobthegardener ..they are 100% right about your so called mango plant. I grew up growing mango plants from stone.They don't survive in cold english winter. Okay as house plant but nothing much apart from joy of growing them from seeds. I grew avacado and date plants from stone/seeds . Avacado is two years and date is three and bit years old.
