  Hi Bob, I believe astilbe would also like it as well then?
  
  

  So I’m assuming as I said before, it is okay to mulch individual plants even if they’re in the same border?

  Yes, no problem.  While manure improves the soil and also adds nutrients, all mulches will help the soil to dry out less quickly, which is the main reason to use one.
