What do I do about my lawn disaster

So, 14 days after overseeding,  and heavens have opened.  I've left with a swampy mess and some areas where seed has washed away.

Looking at puddles reckon drainage is an issue as well. Given temperature has dropped resigned to work next year.

I core areatored before overseeding and adding 70 sand 30 soil topdressing.  Any more ideas.  And what can I do now and what can I do differently next Spring?

How long after it stopped raining was the picture taken, and how hard did it rain? If it's only a short time after torrential rain I wouldn't worry too much, but if that's days later then yes, there's a drainage issue, but I think you'd have noticed it before. None of the things you describe would cause it to puddle like that if it hadn't before.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • It was about 10 mins after the storm that I took the picture. Question - what has happened re my overseeding - as it's washed the seed away guess I will be left with a patch to work on in the spring
  • I am wondering why the seed appears not to have germinated -  I watered 4 times a day for 3 minutes when the seed was put down - was that too little I wonder?
