Planting a plum tree

I would like to plant a fan plum on an east facing wall about 3m tall.  Will this work, if not what type of fruit does anybody suggest

    Dessert Plum trees 'Jubilee' and 'Violetta' would work, as they can even be grown on a north-facing wall (they come from Sweden.)  Other varieties like 'Czar' & 'Marjories seedling' would also do well.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
