Young Apple tree problems

Hi guys,

im having a little trouble with my new apple tree. I bought this at the end of spring and it really hasn’t grown at all, the leaves have been yellowing for the past 2-3 months with dark veins on them! I’ve included the species if it’s relevant to the problem.

Does anyone know what’s going on and how I might solve this problem?

many thanks

I agree, looks like some leaf miner damage.  Leaf miners cause no significant harm to the tree and the effects are mainly just cosmetic, so are not something that needs any invasive treatment.  However, because they overwinter in the leaf litter beneath their host trees, you can greatly reduce the chances of them returning by regularly clearing-up fallen leaves and disposing of them in your domestic waste.  Putting down a mulch of well-rotted manure over the bare soil beneath the tree (don't let grass or other weeds/plants grow there) after all the leaves have fallen will also help, plus will give your tree all it needs in terms of food for the next year.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
