Are my maincrop potatoes ready?

I've been waiting for the foliage of my Desiree potatoes to yellow so that I can cut it off before harvesting the tubers in a couple of weeks. However, the foliage still looks green and lush, even at the end of September! Should I keep waiting?

Yes it's worth checking soon as there is a risk of slug damage if you leave them in the ground too long.

Always work on 14 weeks from date of sowing as a yardstick then, as Phillippa says, unearth a root to see what's there and proceed accordingly.
