Drainage in raised beds.

I’m having some raised beds made to sit on block paving. Should I get solid bases with holes drilled in or some sort of mesh base? Thanks

    Ideally you'd want your raised beds to sit on the bare ground. If they're on top of paving they're probably going to drain right onto your paving. 

    If you're OK with that, some holes would be fine!

    I presumed your bases would be solid @lizhindley2L_hxcA7v, hence my post re making holes on your original thread  :)

    Mesh will be no use as it isn't strong enough. The liner would stop soil getting washed through, but you'd need a very sturdy, quite solid mesh to hold the overall weight.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
