Hole in the lawn

A hole has just appeared in the middle of my lawn. It's approximately 4.5 cms diameter. There have also been droppings. From photos these look most like hedgehog droppings.
I do have an issue with ants in the lawn, but not sure if this could be related in some way. Obviously my concern is that it could be rats. Any thoughts?
