Evergreen shrub ID

My phone refused to cooperate when I wanted to photograph this, so I only have a description, I’m afraid,,,

Large (about 2m wide and 1.80 tall), densely packed evergreen shrub, slender, dark green, lance shaped leaves, with currently many white flowers. Scented.

Simply beautiful, I’d love to get one, one day.

Any ideas?

An RHS search didn’t throw anything up.

  • Flower shape? Sprays, clusters?  How many petals?

  • 😩 couldn’t get close enough to it Dove...

    Petals I think 5.
Rather in the smaller side and star shaped. Not clusters, individual.

Flowering now and scented. Take a look at Choisya x Dewitteana 'Aztec Pearl'.
  • This is Choisya x dewitteana Aztec Pearl.
Leaves palmate with 5 narrow fingers

  • Thanks Borderline, the leaves and habitat are spot on, but the flowers are not in clusters as far as I could tell, rather individual. Wondering if it may be another dewitteana type...
  • Then again, in some photos they flowers don’t look as clustered, so your suggestion looks like the closest match. Thanks 😊

In the autumn time the flowers are less prolific. They are the only white flowers I can think of that are scented at this time of year. It's a very garden-worthy shrub. One of my top recommended shrubs.

The scent is knock-out in late spring, and the leaves are nice on their own. The shrub can do well in a range of conditions. They may flower less but the leaves make up for it.
  • Check the leaves..see pics above.

  • Thanks all, definitely an Aztec Oearl - result! Do they flower better in semi shade or in full sun? I’ve a ternata and seems to flower best in its shadier sude.

They do well in both. With full sun, you tend to get flowering earlier and they finish flowering faster. In semi shade I find the flowers last longer.
