Creeping rosemary

I bought a small creeping rosemary and potted it on to mature a bit. It's doing well but it looks sort of delicate compared to the upright jobs. The leaves are softer -that kind of thing.
 If I plant it out at some stage, will it be happy to spread horizontally along the ground or is it the kind of plant that needs looking after in a container?
In London. Keen but lazy.

    They are less hardy than the upright sort. It's too dark to get a photo now but mine is planted outside in the garden and it's trailing over a low wall. It's sheltered from the wind and in a sunny corner but I don't protect it in winter. It came through the Beast from the East unprotected and unscathed. It's a fairly big plant. You could grow it in a pot but like 'proper' rosemary, you'd probably need quite a big pot for it and it trails rather than creeps, or mine does anyway.

    I have one in this spot: very dry, never watered, overcrowded, fighting for space with cerastium (and winning), it gets used for cooking... anything better and it would be 3 or 5 times as big (which it really wants to be). But most crucially, it is a very well-draining spot.
    I killed normal rosemary in a pot over winter because standard MPC was too soggy for it.

    I have one growing in a long trough for many years. One of my favourite plants. It doesn't really trail much but just forms a network of twisted short branches. It's totally neglected yet, every year, it flowers for up to 8 months. It's just started flowering again after a 3 month summer break. Normally, it's still flowering in December and January.

    Thanks all. I didn't realise it was a trailer. I'll find somewhere suitable. There's not many plants that can outspread cerastium!
