Wisterias get huge so will swamp the shed, the fence, your house if it "escapes" and will drop far more leaves than any clematis I know.  I grow both and any time soon will be staring to sweep up barrow loads of wisteria leaves from the one growing by our most used entrance.

  • Have you thought about an evergreen such as Trachelospermum jasminoides so you wouldn't have to worry about dead leaf drop?
  • Hmm, might have to rethink the wisteria then. I'm sad bout that. Already have a star jasmine @Pianoplayer and that bit of the garden is quite exposed so I don't think it would like it. Mind you, maybe wisteria wouldn't either. I think perhaps clematis gr 3 after all.
