Raised bed next to house!

Looking for advice please! I am going to be building two large raised sleeper beds next to the wall of my house (wall is render on brick blocks). One bed will have perennials and the other veggies, so both will have high moisture in the soil. I want to protect the house walls from damp. Was thinking black plastic sheeting? Would this keep damp out of wall and would it last? Struggling to find advice online. Anyone attempted this? Thank you! 😀

I would build the raised beds with your sleepers on all four sides, about six inches from the wall.  It's not worth dealing with damp or other issues in your house.

Agree, leave a gap and keep it clear of spilt soil and plant material.

Absolutely. Needs to have a gap. Especially if the damp proof course is there too. You can't put something over that  :)
Keep your plastic for lining the bed.

You'll also need to have a plan for extracting anything that falls into the gap.  Some cats and birds are daft and clumsy enough.  Or you might lose your diamonds down there.

I would leave a gap that's just a bit wider than the head of a broom, so that it can be swept easily.

One really ought to ash, earthchick13Sxqn6C1E , whether the attendant problems with raised beds justify the decision to have them?  A conventional border would be free of such risks.
