Magnolia tree damage

My Magnolia tree has been decimated by snails. It is grown in a pot and this happened almost overnight. will my tree be damaged beyond repair, if not what can I do to help it. I have put down lots of snail and slug pellets now, but is it to late to give first aid or is it the compost heap?

They aren't really suitable for pots, so it won't be happy, and therefore will be more easily stressed.
When you say 'lots of slug pellets' - how many is lots? Too many actually attracts more of them, and is counter productive.  A few round a plant is all that's required :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • Thanks a lot Fairygirl I have just spread what it told me on the label to to, is it to late to plant in the garden?

No - it would benefit from being in the ground  :)
A potted plant or shrub can be planted in the ground  at any time, as long as the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged. Autumn is a perfect time of year because it's cooler and damper, so it's easier to get them established  :)

  • Wonderful thank you. Even though it has been eaten to bits will it still be okay to come again next year?

As @Fairygirl says, no problem whatsoever as even damaged, those leaves are still feeding the tree and it will be losing them soon anyway.  New ones will grow next year and it will be much, much happier in the ground.  :)
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Great thanks so much Bob and Fairygirl, your help is so much appreciated, thank you so much.❤️xx
