Possible misuse of autumn aftercut on lawn

After my wife pretty much killed our back lawn by massively overdoing lawn weed and feed in the summer you’d think I’d learn my lesson with products for grass. Sadly, this is not the case.
Since then I have applied a thin layer of topsoil over the whole area in a bid to even out its levels a bit and have put down a load of seed. The grass has now grown and things are looking good. I have given the grass it’s first cut.
Spurred on by my success I decided it would be a good idea to put down some autumn aftercut. Being called aftercut, I assumed you put it down after you have cut the lawn. Since putting it down I have properly read the instructions and started to worry.
So, here are the things that I have done right and that I have done wrong:
Right: I roughly stuck to one handful per square metre.
Wrong: I put it down straight after mowing.
I put it down on new grass.
I put it down when rain is not expected for more than 48 hours.
So, are bad things going to happen?
I thought about leaving it rather than watering it in and then that would make the gap between mowing and the absorption longer.
however, I have quite a few frogs which happily hop around my garden and I don’t want them to suffer from touching the grains on the floor.
I wish I’d never put it down now.
Any wisdom will be gratefully received!
Joe

    Oh 'eck!
I think I'd water thoroughly @joe.shimmin. At least it would dilute it and possibly do less damage.
It's not something I've ever used though. Does the 'aftercut' not mean after you cut the grass then? It suggests that doesn't it?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • It sure does Fairygirl. Turns out you’re meant to wait a couple of weeks I think it said. Never using it again. I thought it was just a feed but then it turns out it kills moss. I read further and it says that it contains chemicals that are harmful to the environment and there was me trying to have a nature garden! I guess I’ll get the sprinkler on tomorrow and hope that the frogs stay away.

Ah - that seems quite a long time. I suppose it's just a slightly different type of weed and feed suitable for this time of year.
Bit of a bummer though. I hope it's ok, after all your efforts to get the grass growing again!
