Pelargoniums in winter

I agree with comments above; the main thing to do is keep the roots dry.  I have a  selection of scented pelargoniums.  Most go in an unheated cold frame or greenhouse but a few come inside for the winter.  Most survive the cold frame but I usually loose one or two each year.

One thing I remember from dear Geoff Hamilton; he recommended cutting them back, removing them from the pots and wrapping them in layers of newspapers and leave in the garage or shed over the winter.  I tried that one year and about half survived so that may be something for @peteS to try.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.

My Gardening Granny used to do just that @Redwing … except she stored hers in a cardboard box under the bed in the spare bedroom, which was rarely used so the radiator was turned off most of the time.
