Help identifying please!

Hello, we have recently moved to a new house and in the middle of the garden is a bush/ tree. Can anyone identify it from the photos? Not sure if it is in very good condition or what we need to do to look after it? Or if we should keep it at all? 
This is our first garden and we are very excited to start, but have to admit we are absolute novices!
