  Is it a box bush? The description sounds like box moths and damage from their caterpillars. https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=760 There's a pic of the adult moth if you scroll down. Does it look like the ones you saw?

  Box tree moth. Got that answer just from searching "white moth with black outline".

  oh now no another 8 have appeared in my garage obviously coming out of the cuttings in my bin

  If you can’t stand the bin outside I would just leave the garage door open for a while.

  yes I’ve put it outside now with the lid open so hopefully any left in the bin will come out before it’s collected Friday
