Geum and Nepeta leaves turning red/brown

I'm not sure if this is normal because of the time of year but the leaves on my Geum totally tangerine and Nepeta are turning coppery.

I am taking more notice of any changes to my plants this year as I'm WFH so I'm not sure if this is normal or they are unhappy....

Any advice?

Can't advise about the Nepeta, but l don't think it's necessarily anything to worry about as regards the geum.
It may be a response to decreasing light levels, normally they look tatty after they've finished flowering in early Summer and l just cut the worst ones off.
Others may have more advice,  hopefully  :)
  • Thanks @AnniD That was my first theory. Hopefully we're both right.

I'm SURE the Nepeta did the same thing last year. It's my first year with the Geum so not sure if this happens normally. 😊
