Hamamelis in container

Evening All,

I’d love to have a Hamamelis, but I have chalky soil. I’m thinking of building a container to grow one. I’m not especially limited in space, how large do you think I need to build it? This will be an open bottomed container, the soil it will go on is not as chalky as the rest of the garden and has a deeper clay layer but not deep enough to plant directly. Thanks

Bear in mind that these shrubs can get quite large and are not normally pruned .
As large a container as you can accomodate ; filled with neutral/acid growing medium and kept constantly moist (preferably rainwater) .
In full sunshine there should not be any problems .
    Good luck !
  • Thanks Paul B3! I’ve got a couple of spots I could have one, will give it some thought.
