Lawn problem

My lawn has got lots of bare brown patches were the grass has died. Tried  lawn raking,re sowing but seems to be spreading, particularly in dry areas. Had some areas last summer. It has not recovered after rain. Suspect it is some sort of disease? Any ideas welocme.

    You have put your email address in the title. Better to remove that.
    Photos would be needed to offer advice on the problem. It may simply be drought though
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
