Pond plants for shallow container?

I have a steel bowl 100cm wide by 20cm deep in the centre which I'm going to fill with water, and I'd like some plants in it.

Are there any pond plants I can grow in such shallow water? I'd really like something that will float on the surface (if not pygmy lilies, then something else?) and something in the centre which will emerge vertically above the surface (by maybe 40cm max, nothing very tall)

Also, the bowl is corten steel which develops a rusty patina naturally. Any idea if that will impact my ability to have water plants?

Thanks!

    It'll get too hot probably.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

@Fairygirl  My first thought too.  Your summers are fairly hot now, it should heat up nicely. I have a metal shallow dish on a stump that I put out for the birds with a few stones in it for footing.  As soon as the shade was on it, the birds came and fluffed around in the water (which I had to keep refilled) - so even at 38°C - it was used.

Mine was too shallow to plant anything, but have a go - I'd put something in the deeper part of it.  @David.lifedrawing   Anyway, it will be fine now through winter.

    Good luck

A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
