Brown rot and compost

Hello, I’m new on this forum and apologies if this has been answered elsewhere (couldn’t find in search)

We’ve moved to a new house with a composter which I am enthusiastically using!

We’ve also inherited an apple tree with a large number of rotted/mushy apples which I have only just learned are brown rot.

I’ve seen conflicting advice online as to whether it’s ok to compost brown rot. I’ve already composted a couple of hundred of these apples (I even thought it was helpful they’d already started decomposing!)

However i’m now thinking I may have to dispose of (not use) the entire compost or risk spreading the disease to other plants? (Certain online advice says not to compost brown rot)

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks,

James
