non flowering/fruiting Rowan tree

We planted a Rowan tree (Olympic Flame) in our back garden at the beginning of 2019, and it has yet to either flower or fruit. It is in the northwest corner of the garden. It was approximately 5-6ft tall when planted, and is now approximately 10ft tall. It appears to be healthy and growing well, just no fowers or fruit. Can anyone suggest why this might be?

Hi @macquire1dl - have you any photos?
It's very unusual for them to not perform. Is it generally healthy?

I'm wondering if it's just put on a lot of growth very quickly, at the expense of flowers.
That's quite a lot in eighteen months or so.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Yes it is, as I i stated in the original post.

  • picture shows the rowan on the right. I am 6ft 2" for scale reference

It certainly looks healthy and well @macquire1dl, so I wouldn't worry too much. :)

They can take a little while to fully establish and get going, so I think you should get some flowering next year, even if it isn't many.
Even the species Sorbus can take a while to be mature enough if they're doing a lot of general growing.  :)
