Ceanothus Concha

Hello. We planted a fairly mature Ceanothus Concha in May and it does not appear to be very healthy at the moment. I have attached some photos - lots of leaves have dropped, there are yellowing/spotted leaves and a lot of the new growth has died off. Any thoughts would be much appreciated please.

    Mine died too. Its mate, a more common specimen with paler, ordinary flowers is thriving. Both were treated the same. Perhaps Concha, which is supposed to be more choice, is more picky.

    I think you need to look at the soil preparation you did before planting and also the fact that it does appear to be somewhat shaded by adjacent growth.  Perhaps also given the hot Spring most of the UK has experienced this year, May was not really the best time to plant it.
    Sufficient preparation and copious watering would have been necessary.
    Removal of dead wood and clearing of grass to give a bigger base area may help ?  Re siting the plant in Autumn to a more suitable spot may be the answer.
    I'm sure someone will be able to advise you further :)

    Thank you for your reply! We really don’t want to lose it so we will resite it if necessary but perhaps should start by clearing the grass, as you suggested. Thanks again 😊
