Pomegranate tree

Please can anyone help......I live in southern Spain and a few years ago I bought and planted a pomegranate tree last year it fruited for first time and we maybe got 3 or 4 this year it produced 8 or 9 but unfortunately they fruits always split open before they reach maturity.....am I being to caring as I just read that they are drought tolerant .was thinking of adding it to drip irrigation instead of manual watering at moment .... a lot of research on internet is so confusing as they often say it’s either too much or not enough watering lol....I do admit with a lot of planting here I have to change from English habits as it’s so easy to over water many different varieties of plants.... any help or experience would be appreciated ready for next time thanks
