Courgettes

Deer have recently eaten the leaves and growing tip from my courgette plant. Does this mean the end of its fruiting or will it develop a new (side) growing shoot.

  • If you're in the UK it will be winding down slowly, so if you don't have any flowers and set fruit on it can't imagine you'll see that many more.

  • amancalledgeorge Thanks for that. I am actually in SW France and have 3 maybe 4  more growing weeks than London. There are some male flowers. I just can't remember if courgettes branch. The bug bear at the moment is the watering, not much in the butts (2 days) then it is cans from the house. A lot of carrying if I get no fruit. Thank you for your reply
  • I'd say keep going and see if you get lucky. Not much more you can do. Maybe feed with some tomato feed to see if it makes a difference at all?
