Mint/Basil question

Trying to figure out what’s going on with my mint and basil . Is it rust or overwatering ? It’s been being watered through overhead irrigation. Just trying to see if I can save them!

    Not enough information to advise.
    Where are you growing them?
    Mint is an outdoor plant and basil isn't hardy in the UK, so if it's outside, it wont do well at this time of year in a cooler area. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    @Fairygirl I’m in LA . 
    They are being grown indoors with alotttt of sun. Similar to greenhouse

    Ah ok. Probably too hot and sunny, even for the basil, certainly too hot for mint  :)

    Even where I am, further north in the UK, I can put basil outside for a good bit of the summer. It can't take the lower temps in spring or now that we have autumn up here, but it doesn't need excessive temps to thrive.
    Mint actually thrives best in cooler, damper conditions, so I expect it's far too hot for it to do well  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Good evening - it's the end of the growing season.  Both plants die off for winter.  Mint a little later - but it will come back in the spring.  Basil needs re-sowing.
    A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

    PS  Try to respect the seasons - not make the plant live through something it doesn't want to do - even with light and heat.  Give it a break!!

    They just look like they got too hot.  Wasn't it 121F (49C) in LA last week?  You can cut them both back by half and they will regrow from either side of a leaf attachment part.  

    Also check under the leaves for red spider mites.  They can make it go a bit yellow like that sometimes.

    @tuikowhai34 ill definitely keep that in mind moving forward . I’m new to gardening and looking for all the tips I can get !

    @Blue Onion yes it got EXTREMELY hot here the other day so probably had a major part in it as well. 

    @Fairygirl thanks for that info ! I can make up for it by changing humidity/temperature levels correct ? I can also move closer to a corner with less light in addition to that.

    I think they're both under a lot of stress, so definitely get them somewhere cooler, but with light  :)
