Is this what I think it is???

just been out collecting some brambles and we've spotted this ...... looks a lot like red currants but I'm obviously very cautious.

Does anyone have any idea??

    Not redcurrants but Viburnum opulus, known as Guelder rose. The fruits apparently can be eaten if cooked, and have been used in some countries, but they are technically toxic, though to what degree seems uncertain.

    They're lovely when they  have their berries.  :)

    It's also the only time I think Hypericums look good too - when they have their berries. Very similar to the Viburnum before they turn black.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I’m delighted to find someone else who finds Hypericums underwhelming. I’ve been hiding this for far too long.

    Wouldn't entertain them in any garden @johnnypenstemon, unless I could stick something in front of them when they're flowering. I loathe the colour of the flowers.
    One of the most hideous garden plants IMO, but the berries are stunning  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
