Buxus caterpillar?

Could someone confirm for me that this is box caterpillar damage? I have resorted to spraying - but the damage goes on .....

  • It probably is... usually they would have eaten much more than this. Did you catch any of the blighters at work?
I got rid all the box we had planted, life's too short to fight a losing battle. It depends how much you have and how keen you are on it. We replaced it with yew and small leaved euonymus and they're both been great.
I'm constantly annoyed with garden centres not warning prospective buyers about the ongoing issue...there have been a few exceptions. But still not good enough for anyone starting out and lured by the affordable prices.

  • I agree with @amancalledgeorge  We got rid of all of our Box, and I still don't understand why garden centres sell it, in the South East at least, where it is very widespread.  Fighting it would be a constant, annual battle.
